- Information and business modeling: It is crucial to identify how you look at your organization and related business context. This implies that a single and clear lexicon is required with clear definitions. This enables information workers to truly understand their information context and focus on decision-taking instead of data discovery and discussion.
- Information delivery: Information needs to be brought to the information worker in a format that is suitable for the role and context of the information worker. Depending on the role one plays within an organization, scorecards, ad-hoc and standard reports or OLAP cubes or a combination will be suitable. This information is pulled or pushed, possibly driven by events, and is available through e-mail, portals, PDA's or other channels adapted to the information worker.
- Business process embedding: In order for Performance Management to be successful it is crucial that not only information but also the drive to increase performance is embedded within the business process.
